I wanted to end our North Shore visit with a tasting of the garlic shrimp. It was nearing 5:30. Giovanni's appeared to be closing and the kids at that food truck park wanted to charge $2 for parking, so we headed to the other park a few blocks away where Big Wave Shrimp is. I ordered the #1 garlic shrimp and #2 spicy garlic shrimp on the menu. Both were quite a bit better than my only other garlic shrimp experience from Geste Shrimp Truck on Maui (although that one was also excellent). Big Wave must have dumped a whole garlic on each plate. There was sooooo much garlic. Unlike Geste, I didn't have to de-shell the shrimps here as they were fried to a nice enough crispy level to be eaten whole including the tails. If I had to choose, I would pick the regular #1 regular garlic over the spicy one as I found the hot sauce to be a bit overpowering and had overshadowed the garlic flavor. This has been me and my folks' top eat on this Oahu trip!

Another amazing North Shore shrimp location!! SO good - the shrimp was so flavorful! This place only came in slightly behind Jenny's Shrimp Wagon for me. But I think it's because I wasn't as big of a fan of the Spicy Shrimp sauce they had. If I had ordered the regular garlic shrimp from Big Wave I think I could have compared it more evenly. Even so, both are incredible and I'm dreaming about the day I can visit Oahu again so I can eat here again!!!

Checking in, it's still fabulous! Best Peeled Garlic Shrimp on the North shore. They no longer have the crunchy shrimp but do have coconut. Spring rolls a little disappointing.

We tried both Jenny's and Big Wave and Big Wave was the winner. The shrimps were tender and had a softer shell that was soft enough to eat. We ordered the spicy garlic shrimp and received our order really quick. I'm not the biggest garlic fan especially if it's chunky so I was pretty overwhelmed by all the garlic covering the top of the rice but to my surprise, it wasn't that bad and the garlic flavor wasn't super overpowering either. There were plenty of shaded seating. There were also chickens roaming freely so if you drop food, you'll be a target!

Both their garlic shrimp and calamari were good. I have had better garlic shrimp at some of the other food trucks on the island but this place was solid. They have a nice outdoor seating area and small parking lot It only took like 5 minutes to get my food

FLAVOR (4/5): Enjoyed the original more than the spicy garlic! Get it with the shell on because it comes right off anyways and has extra flavor. The rice isn't mushy here compared to Gio's and the salad was a nice pairing to the dish. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (3/5): It's food truck style so don't expect too much for the side of the road! They have shared picnic benches out in front and the food truck is parked in a shared lot with other vendors. SERVICE (4/5): The food came out pretty quickly after ordering! You pick up yourself at the window and clean up after yourself. Didn't have to wait in line to order food either. TAKEAWAYS: They have a sink area to wash your hands after. Preferred this over Gio's and there was no wait!

With the number of shrimp trucks on the North Shore it's a tough choice. Over the years we've tried several. I relied on social media on this most recent trip. This one sounded good as they offer peeled butter garlic shrimp. Not for me but for my daughter who prefers it served this way. We ordered: * two orders of the butter garlic shrimp with shell * one order of peeled butter and garlic shrimp. We were there around 11:20am. Got our orders within a few minutes and sat at one of the canopied picnic tables. Our shrimp was delicious. Shell was crunchy and seasoned. I ate one with shell; then shelled the rest. Each order had a dozen. As we were eating plenty of folks arrived. Parking can be difficult as the shrimp truck shares the area with other food trucks. I'd come here again. Clean and no dust. I'm not sure if there's a place where you wash your hands once you're done. Bring hand wipes just in case.

Food is very good. I'm not a seafood person, but my family loves the shrimp here, they usually get it pre-peeled. I had the steak last time, which was tasty. This time I tried the spring rolls and hot dogs, I was hoping the spring rolls came with rice, but I guess the idea is that they're a bit more of an appetizer, which is fair, so they didn't come with rice. The spring rolls also appeared to have no meat in them, which was unexpected, but they still had the classic sweet and tangy sauce, so it was still good. The hot dogs obviously didn't come with rice, but personally, I love rice with hot dogs, and I strongly believe that it will be a trendy meal in the future! (See pic for rice hot dogs). Feel free to borrow my idea and add rice hot dogs to the menu! Seating is very good for a truck restaurant, and the service is usually quick and good overall. Has a nice setup, although it is obviously less fun when the weather is bad, which we had a bit of rain this time, so not perfect, but the table umbrellas do work like a charm! Will likely be coming back next time we're in the north shore!

Took a drive to Haleiwa because I was hungry for some garlic shrimp. I remember seeing Big Wave Shrimp in Haleiwa on Triple D so I had to stop by to see if it was any good. Lots of parking and there's a shop next door so you can check it out while you wait for your order. The girl who took my order was very nice so no forget to leave a tip. Must be hot working in that truck. They have umbrella covered picnic tables for you to enjoy your food. I chose the Garlic Shrimp. No disappointment here! First shot I ate the salad that it came with, no wilted leaves in this baby. Next came the shrimp. I'm a veteran on garlic shrimp so if it's not good, you will hear it from me. The amount of butter and garlic was perfect!! I couldn't believe how perfectly cooked the shrimp was. Not rubbery and the rice was complementing every bite. Some of the shrimp I even ate the shell and tail. This shrimp plate was money!! You gotta try it for yourself!
